Streszczenie
Artykuł dotyczy pojęcia sakramentu Eucharystii w XVI w. w nauce katolickiej i protestan-c kiej. Polemiki religijne toczyły się wówczas m.in. na temat rozumienia jej symboliki. Znacze-nie tego sakramentu podkreślali zarówno teologowie reformacji, jak i przedstawiciele reformy katolickiej. Jeśli chodzi o autorów protestanckich w artykule przedstawiono poglądy Marcina Lutra (1483–1546), Filipa Melanchtona (1497–1560), Jana Kalwina (1509–1564) i Mikołaja Reja (1505–1569). Stronę katolicką zaś reprezentowali: Antoni z Napachania (1494–1561), Be-nedykt Herbest (1531–1598), Marcin Białobrzeski (1530–1586) oraz Hieronim Powodowski (1543–1613). W pracy jest mowa także o postanowieniach soboru trydenckiego (1545–1563) dotyczących sakramentu Eucharystii.
Summary
The paper touches upon the question of the meaning of the Eucharist in 16th-century Catholic and Protestant dogmatic theology. At the time took place the debate dealing with, among other things, the issue of the understanding and symbolism of the sacrament. Both Catholic and reformed theologians emphasised the significance of the Eucharist, but they understood it differently. The aim of the paper is to present and compare the Eucharistic theology of selected authors, in particular: Martin Luther, Philip Melanchthon, John Calvin, Mikołaj Rej of Nagłowice, from the protestant side: Antoni of Napachanie, Benedict Herbest, Marcin Białobrzeski and Hieronim Powodowski, from the catholic point of view. Beside their ideas, the paper also tries to discuss the statements of the Council of Trent concerning the Eucharist.
