Summary

Ze’ew Włodzimierz Żabotyński was born on 1880 in Odessa in the Russian Empire. He died in the United States of America in 1940. Żabotyński was born in partly assimilated Jewish family. Before the First World War he wrote to Russian-Jewish newspaper – “Odess-kija Nowosti” and “Jewrejskaja Zizn”. In this newspaper he wrote polemics against support-ers of assimilation and the Bund. Between 1915 and 1918 Żabotyński created two military organizations, Zion Mule Corps and Jewish Legion, which supported the British army. Zion Mule Corps fought in Gallipoli Campaign, The Jewish Legion fought with Turks in Pales-tine. Between 1921 and 1923 Żabotyński in opposition to the World Zionist Organization created a new political fraction. The ideological base of Revisionist Zionist was:
1. Creating big Israel including today’s Israel, West Bank, Zone of Gaza and Kingdom of Jordan.
2. Strong position of boss (Żabotyński) in this group.
3. Anti-left wing of Zionist.
The Betar Movement was a Revisionist Zionist movement for young Jews. Betar was founded in Riga in 1923. For members of Betar it was very important to create new Jews who would not be faint-hearted.
