Artykuł opisuje życie Władysława Frankowskiego. Urodził się on w polskiej rodzinie katolickiej na Ukrainie. W 1876 r. rozpoczął służbę w armii rosyjskiej i przez 30 lat (1878–1908) był
kawalerzystą w Jamburskin 14 Pułku Ułanów w Pińczowie (gubernia kielecka). W 1908 r. został dowódcą 12 Pułku Ułanów w Płoskirowie. Po awansie na stopień generała majora (1913)
został dowódcą 2 Brygady 12 Dywizji Kawalerii. W czasie I wojny światowej walczył w Galicji Wschodniej. W 1916 r. został przeniesiony w stan spoczynku i 2 lata później powrócił
do Polski. Formalnie do Wojska Polskiego został przyjęty jesienią 1919 r. W latach 1920–1921
był dowódcą Kieleckiego Okręgu Generalnego, a potem Okręgu Korpus w Grodnie. W czerwcu 1922 r. przeniesiony w stan spoczynku – zmarł 3 miesiące później. Artykuł oparty został
na materiałach archiwalnych przechowywanych w Centralnym Archiwum Wojskowym.
The article describes the life of Vladislav Frankowski. He was born into a Polish Catholic family
in Ukraine. In 1876 he began serving in the Russian army and for 30 years (1878–1908) he
was a cavalryman in the 14th Uhlan Regiment in Pińczów (Kielce Governorate). In 1908, he
became the commander of the 12th Uhlan Regiment in Płoskirów. After receiving the rank of
major general (1913), he became commander of the 2nd Brigade of the 12th Cavalry Division.
During World War I, he fought in Eastern Galicia. In 1916 he was retired and two years later he
returned to Poland. He was formally admitted to the Polish Army in the autumn of 1919. In the
years 1920–1921 he was the commander of the Kielce General District, and then of the Corps
District in Grodno. In June 1922, he retired – he died three months later. The article is based on
archival materials stored in the Central Military Archives.
