Tekst składa się z dwóch części. W pierwszej zaprezentowano sylwetkę Tadeusza Mielczarka, syna policjanta II Rzeczypospolitej, który poszukując grobu ojca, odwiedzał różne nekropolie z nadzieją, że jego ojciec Antoni wyszedł z ZSRR razem z II Korpusem. W latach 1982–1985 i 1989–1990 Tadeusz Mielczarek przebywał na kontrakcie w Iraku, pracował dla firmy P.E.B.KOM. „Dromex” z Warszawy. Pełnił funkcję kierownika Bazy Eksploatacji Sprzętu i Transportu. W czasie prac na pustyni niedaleko Abu Ghar polska załoga „Dromex-u” odkryła tajemnicze zbiorowisko kamieni. Napis brzmiał: „SZLAK PRZEMARSZU II KORPUSU”. W miejscu znaleziska w 1985 r. kierownictwo firmy ufundowało obelisk z miejscowej skały z tablicą i napisem odczytanym z kamieni. W aneksie została umieszczona relacja „Polacy w Iraku”. Opisuje ona okoliczności odkrycia napisu podczas prac na pustyni oraz warunki w jakich przebywali w Iraku.
Tadeusz Mielczarek, the son of a policeman of the Second Polish Republic, who, looking for his father’s grave, visited various necropolises in the hope that his father Antoni had left the USSR with the Polish Second Corps. In the years 1982–1985 and 1989–1990 Tadeusz Mielczarek worked in Iraq, for the P.E.B.KOM company “Dromex” from Warsaw. He was the Manager of the Equipment Operation and Transport Base. While working in the desert near Abu Ghar, the Polish crew of “Dromex” discovered a mysterious pile of stones. It marked the march route of the II Corps. In 1985, the company’s management funded an obelisk made of the local rock with a plaque and an inscription originally written on the stones. The appendix contains the report “Poles in Iraq”. It describes the circumstances of the discovery of the inscriptions during work in the desert and the conditions in which Poles worked.
