Po 1991 r. studiowanie pamiętników XIX w. stało się jednym z głównych zadań białoruskich uczonych. Proces ten, który powoli rozwijał się w pierwszych latach niepodległości kraju, po 2000 r. zyskał znaczny wzrost i obecnie wydaje się, że osiągnął swój szczyt w całym okresie rozwoju białoruskiej historiografii. W rezultacie opublikowano około 60 pamiętników (w całości lub w części) białoruskich historyków i filologów, z których niektóre zachowały się tylko w rękopisach, nie zostały wprowadzone do obiegu naukowego i pozostały nieznane społeczności akademickiej. W kraju pojawiła się grupa naukowców zajmujących się profesjonalnie ba-daniami w tej dziedzinie i wysunięto kilka inicjatyw mających na celu ułatwienie realizacji ich projektów naukowych i wydawniczych. Jednak wciąż jest jeszcze kilka problemów, które należy przezwyciężyć.
Since 1991 one of the main aims for Belarusian scholars was to carry out research into 19th century memoirs.
is process which developed slowly during the first years of the independence of the country, has enjoyed a significant growth after the year 2000, and nowadays it appears to have reached its peak as far as the full period of the development of Belarusian historiography is concerned. As a result there have been published (either completely or partially) around sixty memoirs by Belarusian historians and philologists. Some of the texts were only preserved in manuscript, and therefore remained unknown to the academic community.
ere has emerged in Belarus a group of scholars who undertake research in the stated area, and there have been launched a few initiatives aiming to facilitate the implementation of their scholarly and publishing projects. However, there are still several problems to overcome – a low level of preparation (translation, archeographic editing, etc.) of various memoirs, a slow pace of introducing texts into scholarship, a prevalence of translations from one language (Pol-ish), a relatively insignificant number of researchers in Belarus, etc.
